After losing 2-0 at home to Borussia Dortmund at the weekend, the Wolves are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Leverkusen (kick-off 20:30 CEST). At Monday’s pre-match press conference, head coach Oliver Glasner spoke about…

…the defeat to BVB: “If we want to beat a team like Borussia Dortmund we just need a top performance. We weren’t at our best against Dortmund. We were very good defensively but not in our forward play - both in possession and whenever we won the ball back through counter-pressing. That’s why it just wasn’t enough on the day.”

…VfL’s upcoming opponents: “Apart from Bayern and Dortmund, Leverkusen are the one team who have managed to pull clear of their pursuers - particularly in the second half of the season. They’re in very good form, one of the best teams in terms of technical ability, they have a lot of pace in attack and a lot of players who are very strong in one-on-one situations. Overall they’re very aggressive and sprint and run a lot. Leverkusen are a team who will definitely qualify for the Champions League.”

…personnel: “Other than Paulo Otavio, we’ll also be without Admir Mehmedi in Leverkusen. He’s sidelined with an Achilles tendon problem. The players who are fit are in good spirits. We have to deal with the situation and make the best out of it.”

…the Wolves’ approach: “Leverkusen are a tough task but we want to perform like we did for the majority of the second half against Dortmund, when we posed more of a threat to the opposition goal and played our own game. We’ll do all we can to perform to the best of our abilities.”
