VfL Wolfsburg are supporting Germany’s bid for Euro 2024.
The German Football Association (DFB) are hoping to bring the UEFA European Championship to Germany for the second time in 2024. Having submitted their application to UEFA headquarters in Nyon on 1 March 2017, the decision about where the tournament will be held in six years’ time will be announced this Thursday (27 September). To make it clear that the whole of German football – from the top to the grassroots – is behind the bid, the DFB and DFL (German Football League) held a nationwide campaign day this weekend.
Bid logo on shirt sleeves
Under the slogan ‘United by Football’, various activities have been taking place at matches at all levels this weekend to show that Euro 2024 is wanted in Germany. Together with the other 17 clubs in the top flight, VfL Wolfsburg are fully behind the bid, as they demonstrated during Saturday’s match against SC Freiburg at the Volkswagen Arena. Before kick-off, both sides posed for a joint photo in front of the bid logo, which also replaced the Bundesliga logo on the players’ sleeves.
