Wolves U19s travel to France to face OSC Lille on Tuesday.
VfL Wolfsburg U19s are looking forward to launching their UEFA Youth League campaign on Tuesday with a trip to face OSC Lille (kick-off: 14:00 CEST). For most of the players, this will be their first taste of European action, while coach Christian Wimmer already has experience at a similar level, having trained the Hungary U20 international team up until recently.
The first match promises to be a special occasion and a great experience for the youngsters, according to Wimmer. “We expect Lille to be a strong team in terms of technique and maybe a little more mature than our players, which is down to the fact that the French start things off at a slightly earlier age in men’s football,” said the coach ahead of the game. “We’ve analysed our opponents thoroughly and we’re going into the match against Lille well prepared.” Wolfsburg will be looking to play possession football on Tuesday and make the most of their chances when they come along.
