UEFA Youth League exit

The U19s were knocked out of the competition after a late 2-1 defeat to Salzburg.

The VfL Wolfsburg U19s have been eliminated from the UEFA Youth League after falling to a 2-1 defeat to FC Salzburg at the AOK Stadion on Tuesday. It was a third loss in the competition for coach Christian Wimmer’s side, who picked up their only point so far in a 1-1 draw at home to Sevilla. Sean Busch was on target for the Green-and-Whites in the 54th minute of a hard-fought encounter, levelling the score at 1-1 after Lukas Wallner struck in the eighth minute. However, Samson Baidoo scored the decisive late winner (90’+3) to seal the points for Salzburg, compounding a disappointing game for VfL, who played with ten men for a long time after Philipp Heller was sent off in the 47th minute. VfL still have two matches left to in the Youth League, with a trip to Sevilla up next on 23 November (kick-off: 14:00 CET).
