As part of the partnership with Club Deportivo Familia Volkswagen, the second Train-the-Trainer course took place in Puebla from 22 July to 2 August following its successful debut in July 2018. In theoretical and practical training sessions led by two coaches from VfL Wolfsburg, the focus was on subjects such as phases of play, group and team tactics as well as match preparation and analysis.
Rigorous schedule with time for fun
The 15 motivated participants, who came from the various youth teams at Club Deportivo Familia Volkswagen, were pushed hard during the course. The day started at 9am with a theory session and normally ran until 6pm.
However, there was also always time for fun, which led to overwhelmingly positively reviews. “The course was again very educational for our coaches, which will benefit us in our day-to-day work,” said Julio Cevada, sporting director at Club Deportivo Familia Volkswagen. “We had a great time and a lot of laughs despite the long days.”
To be continued in 2020
The Train-the-Trainer programme, which acts as the key component of the cooperation between VfL and Club Deportivo Familia Volkswagen, will be held again in Puebla next year. The VfL Football School has also been a regular visitor to Puebla for a number of years and breathes further life into the partnership with the Volkswagen club.
