“Togetherness sets us apart”

The Wolves are heading to Borussia Dortmund full of confidence.

VfL Wolfsburg-Trainer Oliver Glasner spricht nach einem Spiel mit Koen Casteels.

After a short break, VfL Wolfsburg resume their Bundesliga campaign with a trip to Borussia Dortmund on Sunday 3 January (kick-off 15:30 CET). At his press conference before the match, Oliver Glasner discussed…

…team news: “Maximilian Philipp suffered a muscle injury on Wednesday and won’t be with us in Dortmund. Jerome Roussillon no longer has any symptoms after his coronavirus infection and will re-join us tomorrow, but is not an option for Dortmund. Likewise, Maxence Lacroix will only return to training tomorrow after his quarantine, although he was generally asymptomatic. If everything’s alright with him, then I’ll consider whether he travels to Dortmund.”

…the significance of the game: “I don’t see the outcome of this match as being indicative of how things will look after Matchday 34. I see two teams here who have their qualities. We want to build on our good recent performances and we’re in good shape. We now want to prove that we can get a result at Dortmund too and maybe even win. We really need a top performance, and a united team performance, if we’re to get something there. But it’s precisely our strong togetherness that sets us apart.”

…the return of a number of players: “It was nice to have a lot more players on the training pitch this week. It’s good that we have more options again. The players who played at the end of the year did very well and they showed that they’re there for the team. My job is now to select the starting XI, but we’ll also need fresh legs from the bench.”
