VfL Women’s preparations for the restart of the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga have entered their final phase. With around two and a half weeks to go until the season is set to resume with Matchday 17, the current league leaders – who have not played since 1 March due to the coronavirus crisis – returned to full team training this week.
The exact date for the She-Wolves’ home match against 1. FC Köln on the final weekend of May is not yet confirmed, with the league still awaiting the green light from the government following the agreement by the DFB committee.
“That gave us a push”
Normal training with match situation drills and tackling is possible again. “The players were very pleased to be back on the pitch together and to be able to do the same activity,” said coach Stephan Lerch. “That gave us a push.”
No Doorsoun or Janogy
Two players have been absent from training, though: Sara Doorsoun has been sitting out due to knee problems – although she is expected to be fit for the meeting with Köln – while Madelen Janogy is currently back home in Sweden owing to a private matter.
