Oliver Glasner praised his players’ “good control of the game”.
VfL Wolfsburg remain in a promising position in the battle for the Champions League places following the 2-0 win at FC Augsburg. They also set a new club record with a fourth consecutive Bundesliga win without conceding. VfL boss Oliver Glasner paid “huge credit” to his charges afterwards.
The coaches’ reaction
Oliver Glasner: “Over the 90 minutes, it was a fully deserved win for us. That was a great team performance today. We had a few problems at the start and gave away the ball too easily. We made too many mistakes there, but after 20, 25 minutes we got a good grip on the game and scored a very nice opening goal. In the second half, my feeling watching on was that we had good control of the game. The team deserve huge credit: after scoring the second goal, celebrating and then having it disallowed because of a narrow offside call, that could’ve been a game-changer. But the lads kept their composure, continued in the same way and scored the second goal a few minutes later.”
Heiko Herrlich: “It’s a fully deserved win for Wolfsburg. Saying that, we played well in the first 30 minutes and also had the first chance after 11 minutes through Flo Niederlechner. When you have opportunities like that, and the ones that Andre Hahn and Daniel Caligiuri had, then you have to take one of them if you’re to get anything.”
