VfL Wolfsburg Women are primed and ready for the opening fixture of the new FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga season against 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam on Saturday 28 August (kick-off 13:00 CEST), having earned a 5-1 friendly triumph over Bayer 04 Leverkusen, adding to their four previous victories during pre-season preparations.
Tabea Waßmuth scored twice for head coach Tommy Stroot’s side, with further goals from Svenja Huth, Ewa Pajor and Rebecka Blomqvist rounding out the win at the Hotel Klosterpforte, where the She-Wolves have held their training camp, which concludes on Saturday.
Preparations for the home game against Potsdam will begin in earnest on Tuesday, but before then the team will also take part in the annual Media Day.
“A positive signal”
VfL head coach Tommy Stroot: “We were in complete control most of the time today, that was the decisive factor. That’s what this training camp has been all about, we wanted to take this step and that’s what I saw us do. We have to and we will talk about the goal we conceded from a set piece, but it’s something that can happen from time to time. I’d have more of a problem with it if they’d scored from open play. It was another clear result against a league rival and that’s another positive signal for us.”
