VfL Wolfsburg has promoted one of its most promising young talents: Tim Siersleben, 20, has signed a professional contract with the Wolves. The centre-back, whose existing deal was due to run until summer 2021, has now extended his stay until 30 June 2024. “Since his move to VfL Wolfsburg, Tim has impressed at every age level and is now involved in the first-team squad. His performances and his hard work have earned him this contract,” said VfL sporting director Marcel Schäfer.
Regular in the squad this season
Siersleben has been with the club since 2016, progressing through the youth teams before making the step up to the U23s last year. Since the start of the current 2020/21 campaign, the defensive talent has regularly been included in the first-team squad, sitting on the bench in seven of the 10 Bundesliga matches as well as in the DFB Cup and Europa League qualifying.
“Delighted by the faith shown in me”
“I’m over the moon and also quite proud, to be honest,” said Siersleben. “When I came here four years ago, if someone had offered me the chance to turn professional at Wolfsburg, I would’ve signed straight away. I’m delighted by the faith the club has shown in me. I feel incredibly happy here and I take this contract as an incentive to keep plugging away and working hard for VfL.”
