VfL Wolfsburg supported the work of the Terre des Hommes project.
Through the Wolfsburg United venture, VfL Wolfsburg supported the work of Terre des Hommes in Vietnam with a donation of shirts and footballs. Terre des Hommes repeatedly helps children at risk of poverty in the community of Thuong Cuong in Lang Son Province through numerous projects. Alongside the aim of reducing domestic violence and empowering girls, who are heavily disadvantaged in Vietnamese society, the theme of sport and games is also an important element of the charity’s work. In that respect, the Wolves’ donation of kits and balls was an ideal way to get involved.
The children were delighted about their new VfL outfits and are now even more motivated when playing football and training. “My dream is to later play in the VfL shirt in Wolfsburg,” stated one of the boys proudly in his new strip. One of the sports teachers also enthused about his students’ new shirts. “It’s really nice that the Wolves have supported us in this way,” he said. “It’s given a lift to football in our community. German football is our model!” The Women’s Union in Lang Son, with whom Terre des Hommes works very closely on the ground, likewise thanked VfL for the support: “It’s clearly invigorated football here in Lang Son.”
