Three days after beating PSV Eindhoven 2-1, VfL Women claimed another victory over Dutch opposition on Saturday, emerging 2-0 winners against FC Twente in Barsinghausen. Tabea Waßmuth and Turid Knaak got the goals for the Green-and-Whites at the August-Wenzel-Stadion – part of the Dutch Football Association’s centre of excellence. It was an enjoyable afternoon for new VfL boss Tommy Stroot, who guided Twente to the Dutch title last season. The She-Wolves’ next friendly takes place on Saturday 14 August (kick-off 15:30 CEST) – against Bundesliga rivals SV Werder Bremen in Ankum.
“We had a lot of control”
VfL head coach Tommy Stroot: “It was our third game in the space of eight days today, so it was important to get through the match without any injuries. We started the game well and took the next step in our development. We had a lot of control and could have won by a greater margin. Now we can look forward to our friendly against Werder Bremen next week.”
