Spielerinnen der VfL Wolfsburg Frauenmannschaft freuen sich über einen Treffer.

The She-Wolves continued their winning start to the campaign on Matchday 5 of the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga, beating FF USV Jena 8-1 at the AOK Stadion to strengthen their grip on first place.

Alexandra Popp’s early brace (8’, 14’), a second-half hat-trick from Pernille Harder (54’ pen, 57’, 71’) and strikes from Noelle Moritz (41’), Dominique Janssen (74’) and Felicitas Rauch (90’) sealed a comprehensive win for Stephan Lerch’s side, with Karla Görlitz netting a consolation for the visitors.

The Green-and-Whites return to league action after the international break with a trip to 1. FC Köln on Friday 11 October (kick-off 19:15 CEST at the Fritz-Kremer-Stadion).

“We did an excellent job”

VfL head coach Stephan Lerch: “The early goals helped us because we knew it can be difficult against deep-lying opposition - as has been the case on many occasions this season. We also did an excellent job in the second half. We dominated but didn’t always pick the right pass. Having said that, we had a couple more good chances and also struck the woodwork. At the end of a busy week and having had several injuries recently, we’re very pleased to have come away with such a good result. We can catch our breath now and try to reduce our injury list a little. After that, we’ll try and continue where we left off today.”
