She-Wolves go top

VfL Women won 1-0 at FC Bayern Munich to go top of the table.

Die VfL-Frauen umarmen sich aus purer Freude.

VfL Wolfsburg Women weren’t favourites going into the top-of-the-table clash at FC Bayern Munich, but that counted for nothing in the end. In an intense, end-to-end contest, the She-Wolves ran out 1-0 winners at the FC Bayern Campus to replace their closest rivals as leaders of the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga. It’s the first time this season that VfL Women have been top of the standings. Ex-Bayern player Kathrin Hendrich scored the all-important goal in front of a crowd of 1,931.

The She-Wolves have another big match this Tuesday, 18 November (kick-off 18:45 CET), in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Tommy Stroot’s side are bidding to take another step towards the quarter-finals with a win against Juventus on Matchday 4.

Tommy Stroot: “These three points are important. I’m very happy – what character we showed. It’s just one win, though. We’re still on a journey of development and we believe in our journey, which I felt today. So may it continue!”
