She-Wolves consolidate top spot

VfL Women won 5-1 at home to SGS Essen in the Bundesliga on Sunday evening.

VfL Wolfsburg Women head into the upcoming international break top of the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga after picking up another three points in a 5-1 home win against SGS Essen. Pauline Bremer’s brace and further goals from Jill Roord, Rebecka Blomqvist and Tabea Waßmuth earned the Green-and-Whites a comfortable victory, eight days after their 1-0 win at FC Bayern Munich. Vivien Endemann made the scoresheet for the visitors.

The She-Wolves return to action at home to FC Carl Zeiss Jena on Saturday 5 December (kick-off 13:00 CET).

Tommy Stroot: “Today our task was to go top of the table, so we knew we had to win the game. We rose to the challenge. To put the game against Juventus out of our minds like that and to focus in the manner we did deserves my respect. We’ve spent the last 48 hours working on getting Thursday out of our heads. We’ve obviously never played together like we did today, so there’s a chance that some things might not work. We always had the right energy, though.”
