Record-breaking champions

The VfL Ladies rounded off an extraordinary season with a 2-0 win over 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam on Sunday.

The She-Wolves concluded their 2018/19 Allianz Women's Bundesliga campaign with a victory on Matchday 22 courtesy of goals from Pernille Harder and Ewa Pajor. Stephan Lerch's side underlined what was a fully deserved title triumph in front of 3,406 fans at the AOK Stadion, and officially received the championship trophy after the final whistle.

The 2-0 success was the team's 19th league win of the season and was also a hugely significant one as it took the side up to a club-record 59 points. Furthermore, the Green-Whites were finally able to celebrate an achievement that has long been in the works: Pajor finished as the league's top scorer with 24 goals, adding another trophy to the double-winners’ collection.

There were moving scenes prior to kick-off too, as alongside VfL captain Nilla Fischer, Caroline Hansen, Katharina Baunach, Mary Earps and Ella Masar all officially bid farewell to the club.
