Putting a smile on youngsters’ faces in Yantai
Sixty-one children attended a VfL football camp in China.
The VfL football camp from 13 – 15 November 2019 at the bilingual school in Yantai was a roaring success, with 61 children aged eight to 14 giving it their all out on the pitch. The five-strong team of coaches, headed by camp leader Jonas Garzke, trained twice a day with the youngsters for around three hours per session.
Despite the language barrier making things tough, the kids showed real commitment to the task. One of the highlights of the camp was the welcoming and farewell ceremonies, with Wölfi the mascot on hand in Yantai to bring as much delight to the children’s faces as he does in Germany.
A good time was had by all, with the participants learning plenty about football in general and VfL Wolfsburg in particular, and after the intensive training sessions the youngsters received plenty of giveaways to take home with them. The coaching team would particularly like thank Linglong Tire for making sure everything ran smoothly at the camp, and also the staff at the VfL office in Beijing for all their support on site.
