“Put Frankfurt under pressure”

VfL Wolfsburg host Eintracht in the Matchday 11 opener on Friday evening.

The Wolves have won three successive home games for the first time under head coach Oliver Glasner, and are eager to keep that run going when they welcome Eintracht Frankfurt to the Volkswagen Arena for the Bundesliga Matchday 11 curtain-raiser on Friday 11 December (kick-off 20:30 CET). At his pre-match press conference, Glasner spoke about…

… Eintracht Frankfurt: “Physically, Eintracht are one of the best sides in the Bundesliga so we’ll need to look for the spaces and exploit them with the ball. Frankfurt are very dangerous in attack, especially on the wings but also at set-pieces, and they’re capable of scoring in every game. They’ve got a lot of weapons up front. At the other end there will certainly be some room that we want to make the most of. Overall I’m expecting a hard-fought battle, in which we’ll have to put Frankfurt under pressure.”

… team news: “Unfortunately, Renato Steffen picked up an injury while shooting in training yesterday. He’ll definitely miss the game with a pulled adductor muscle, but he might be able to return for one or two matches before Christmas. Josip Brekalo had to cut yesterday’s session short but he was back in training again today. I’m optimistic with him. Yunus Malli won’t be available due to back complaints. Everyone else has trained well so far.”

… the fixture list in the run-up to Christmas: “I want us to pick up as many points as possible in the games we have left, and for us to continue performing as a team as we have done in the last few weeks. I think our matches have been good to watch. We want to keep playing with enjoyment and creativity.”
