Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc. renews partnership with VfL Wolfsburg.

VfL Wolfsburg and Canadian lubricant company Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc. (PCLI) have extended their successful partnership. The new agreement will see PCLI, which signed its initial deal with the Wolves in 2014/15, become the Green-Whites’ primary national sponsor from the 2018/19 season. The PCLI logo will be visible throughout the Volkswagen Arena, including on the club’s LED advertising hoardings for national and international audiences, in the stadium’s hospitality areas and on the club’s social media platforms.

Sustainable and future-oriented

“As one of the leading lubricant manufacturers and producers, Petro-Canada Lubricants is committed to an innovative and future-oriented strategy, just like VfL Wolfsburg,” said Steffen Grupp, VfL Wolfsburg’s Head of Sponsorship and Events. “We’re very pleased to have agreed a long-term extension to our partnership and that the company will continue to be at our side.”

Mutual growth

Mark A. Plake, President of Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc., also highlighted the importance of the company’s continued partnership with the Wolves. “As our presence and distributor network continues to grow in Europe, we’re excited to further extend our brand partnerships in the DACH region,” he said. “The Wolves are a great club, built around ambition and commitment - values which align well with Petro-Canada Lubricants today and into our future.”

Domestic champions and cup winners

In 2015, VfL Wolfsburg celebrated its 70th anniversary. The German people’s insatiable appetite for sport, and in particular football, helped VfL through some difficult times after the club was founded in 1945. The Wolves have gone from strength to strength ever since, however, enjoying numerous highlights along the way: as well as having now spent over 20 consecutive seasons in Germany’s top flight, the club’s greatest achievements include winning the Bundesliga title in 2009 and lifting the DFB Cup in 2015.

One of the most successful women’s teams in Europe, the VfL Ladies have won countless major honours in recent seasons, including two UEFA Women’s Champions League titles (2013 and 2014), four German championships (2013, 2014, 2017 and 2018) and five DFB Cups (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018).
