The Lady-Wolves secure a clear 5-0 win in their Champions League quarter-final first-leg clash with SK Slavia Prague.

VfL Wolfsburg made convincing strides towards a place in the UEFA Women’s Champions League last four with a 5-0 victory against Czech side SK Slavia Prague in their quarter-final first leg.

1,326 fans saw goals from Pernille Harder (12’, 58’), Caroline Hansen (13’) Sara Gunnarsdottir (39’) and Ewa Pajor (85’) secure a commanding advantage heading into next week’s return leg.

Harder breaks the deadlock

The Wolves took a high-tempo approach from the outset and were duly rewarded for their efforts in the 12th minute, with Harder slotting through the legs of Barbora Votikova to open the scoring. The VfL fans had barely finished celebrating before they were on their feet again, this time Hansen converting from a Lara Dickenmann pass to make it 2-0 (13‘). Shortly before the break, the Green-Whites further increased their lead as Gunnarsdottir slotted home from close-range (39’).

Harder seals her brace

VfL were once again superior in the second half. In the 58th minute, Harder caught the Slavia keeper too far off her line and chipped the ball home spectacularly to make it 4-0. And the final move of the game resulted in another for the home side, Isabel Kerschowski teeing up Pajor to make it 5-0. The quarter-final return-leg will take place on Wednesday, 28 March (kick-off 18:00 CET) in the Czech capital.
