Die Spielerinnen des VfL Wolfsburg jubeln gemeinsam.

After a break of nearly three months, VfL Wolfsburg Women immediately got back in their stride with a 4-0 win at home to Köln on Friday afternoon. Pernille Harder struck a brace, while Svenja Huth and Alexandra Popp were also on the scoresheet in the She-Wolves’ first ever competitive match behind closed doors. The current league leaders are at home again in the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga next Saturday, 6 June (kick-off 13:00 CET), when they host 1. FFC Frankfurt at the AOK Stadion for the final time before their merger with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Before then, the Green-and-Whites will be playing for a place in the final of the DFB Cup as the holders travel to FSV 2009 Gütersloh on Wednesday 3 June (kick-off 19:00 CEST).

“We had control of the game”

VfL head coach Stephan Lerch: “I’m very happy that we were able to win this game by a clear margin in the end. As expected, we came up against a very defensive-minded Köln side and we had to find our way into the game at first. We had a lot of control of the game and we could’ve scored one or two more goals. We’ve seen things that we want to do differently, but generally I’m very pleased with how the match turned out and that we can finally play football again!”
