Next win for She-Wolves

VfL Women earned a 4-1 victory away to Hoffenheim ahead of the international break.

VfL Wolfsburg Women made it two wins from as many league games on Sunday afternoon thanks to a comfortable 4-1 triumph against TSG Hoffenheim in the team’s first away fixture of the 2020/21 season.

Zsanett Jakabfi was the matchwinner for head coach Stephan Lerch’s side with a hat-trick (12’, 44’, 52’), while Alexandra Popp was also on the scoresheet (45+2’).

The result leaves last season’s double winners in third place in the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga standings ahead of their next outing, at home to promoted side SV Meppen at the AOK Stadion on Sunday 27 September (kick-off 14:00 CEST).

“A great result”

VfL head coach Stephan Lerch: “We wanted to get at TSG early on and not allow them to string together any moves. We managed that well, apart from a spell at the start of the second half, and we ended up with a comfortable win. It’s a great result for us. We really wanted to go into the international break with six points on the board and we’re happy to have achieved that aim.”
