Due to the current travel restrictions, the second leg of the She-Wolves’ UEFA Women’s Champions League last 16 tie with Norwegian club LSK Kvinner will take place on Wednesday 10 March in Györ (kick-off 14:00 CET, live on Wölfe TV).
The Green-and-Whites earned a 2-0 advantage from the first leg, giving them a solid foundation as they bid to reach the UWCL quarter-finals for a ninth successive season. At his pre-match media briefing, head coach Stephan Lerch discussed…
…team news: “Shanice van de Sanden has stayed home for reasons that are already known, and Lena Oberdorf isn’t available either, although it’s more as a precaution with her. If it were a final she’d probably be on board. She still feels a little something so we didn’t want to take any risks. Lisanne Gräwe had some muscular complaints after our final training session, so she didn’t come with us either.”
…how the tie is poised: “We’re fully focused and concentrated, and will need to be wide awake from the outset. In the first leg we saw that we still have some difficulty in the opening period in particular, and Lilleström had a few chances. That shouldn’t happen tomorrow. The worst-case scenario would be for them to score an early goal because that might put the wind in their sails.”
…his game plan: “We want to take the match by the scruff of the neck right from the off and try to impose our game out on the pitch. The first leg came right after the international break, and not everything was bad. We’ve since had a very good outing in Meppen, and we want to build on that. For that reason I don’t think we’re in danger of slipping up. Quite the opposite, in fact: I’m confident that we’ll progress to the next round with conviction. And that would be another big success if we can do that.”
