Pia-Sophie Wolter to make the move from Werder Bremen to VfL Wolfsburg from the coming season.
For the new season, fans of VfL Wolfsburg can already begin looking forward to a new signing. German U20 international Pia-Sophie Wolter is to make a free transfer from SV Werder Bremen to VfL and has signed a three-year deal with the Green-Whites. The move is combined with a degree-course in the VfL Campus. Having notched up a total of 56 competitive appearances in the top and second-flights, at just 20 years old, Wolter has already gathered significant top-level experience. "We’ve been keeping an eye on Pia’s sporting development for quite some time and we firmly believe she can develop further together with us. I am truly delighted that Pia has opted to join VfL Wolfsburg, in spite of major interest from other top-name German competitors," commented Director of Sport for women’s football at VfL Ralf Kellermann on securing the services of the flexible winger.
"Young and talented"
VfL head-coach Stephan Lerch is also convinced of Wolter’s qualities: "In Pia, we have signed a young and talented player. She is focused and knows just what she wants to achieve. I am delighted that we have won over such a massive talent." Even at an early age, Pia-Sophie Wolter was in close contact with professional football – her father is former Werder pro Thomas Wolter. "Leaving Bremen is not easy for me, because I have very close ties with my hometown. However, the time has come for me to take the next step sportingly. I am delighted to have been given this chance at a top club like VfL Wolfsburg," stated Wolter.
