Andreas Hilfiker takes on coordination of goalkeepers and goalkeeper trainers.
Andreas Hilfiker is to take over the role of coordinating all goalkeepers and goalkeeper trainers at VfL with immediate effect. The move into the new role had initially been planned for the coming season, but considering the change in the position of head-coach, the 49-year-old Swiss is now fulfilling the new role. Hilfiker’s new tasks will include the further education of the goalkeeper trainers, the execution of advanced-training for talented youngsters and the scouting of new goalkeepers.
"Over a decade with VfL"
"We have been involved in exchanges with Andreas Hilfiker for some time about this new position. We are delighted that he can now begin with the development and advanced-education of our goalkeepers and goalkeeper-trainers. He has masses of experience in that area and has been with us here at VfL Wolfsburg for over a decade," explained VfL Sporting director Olaf Rebbe.
Andreas Hilfiker was active as a goalkeeper in Switzerland (FC Thun and FC Aarau) and in Germany (1. FC Nürnberg and Tennis Borussia Berlin), whilst also winning eight caps with the Swiss national team. In the summer of 2017, Hilfiker became successor to Pascal Formann in the position as goalkeeper-trainer with the Bundesliga team.
