VfL head coach Oliver Glasner could not hide his pride following the Wolves’ 1-1 draw in Leipzig.

A tenacious, hard-working display from the Green-Whites helped them deservedly return home with a point from Leipzig, extending their unbeaten start to the season. After the match, Glasner praised his charges’ morale and all-round performance.

Oliver Glasner: “I’m absolutely delighted with the point and am really satisfied with our performance. It was fun watching the boys play out there. Leipzig were the better team in the first half, even if we had the more clear-cut chances. My team deserve huge respect for the way they played after going behind. We kept Leipzig a long way from our goal and managed to create opportunities for ourselves, one of which deservedly led to the equaliser. The players deserve a lot of credit for their attitude and performance. It was great to see.”

Julian Nagelsmann: “We were very good for the first 60 minutes. We were in control and our build-up play was good up until the final third. Wolfsburg dropped deep early on, but we just didn’t make the most of the space available. I’m satisfied with the first quarter of an hour of the second half, but we didn’t play well after taking the lead. We were too passive both in attack and in defence and didn’t have any transitions. We practically invited them to score, even if it was a very well-worked goal, so they deserved to equalise.”
