Elsewhere, Paul-Georges Ntep must wait for his Cameroon debut.
While most VfL Wolfsburg first-teamers on international duty were in action on Friday, there were two fixtures over the weekend with Wolfsburg interest. Admir Mehmedi came on in the 72nd minute of Switzerland's eventual 6-0 UEFA Nations League win against Iceland, but that proved more than enough time to find the net, the VfL attacking midfielder rounding off a flowing counterattack from Djibril Sow's pass ten minutes after his introduction.
Ntep links up with Cameroon
For his part, Paul-Georges Ntep must wait for his Cameroon debut. The winger watched from the bench as his new national side drew 1-1 away to the Comoros on Matchday 2 of African Cup of Nations qualification. After appearing in two friendlies for France, the 26-year-old has been permitted to switch his international allegiance to Cameroon.
