“Lads are fully on board”

The Wolves take on Fenerbahce on Monday in the first friendly of their training camp.

With the first few intensive sessions at their training camp in Schladming behind them, VfL Wolfsburg face their first friendly in Austria on Monday (kick-off 18:30 CEST). The Franz Fekete Stadion in Kapfenberg is the venue for the Green-and-Whites’ meeting with Turkish side Fenerbahce, who – like the Wolves – finished sixth in their domestic league last season.

There will be a few familiar names on the opposing side. Tolga Cigerci, an U19 Bundesliga winner with VfL in 2011, joined the 19-time Turkish champions last summer, while new arrivals Max Kruse and Murat Saglam are also former Wolves.

VfL head coach Oliver Glasner is feeling positive after the first five training sessions in Schladming: “The lads are fully on board, it’s been really fun. Pre-season is obviously tough for everyone but we want to lay the foundations for a successful season.”

The game against Fenerbahce will be shown live on the Wolves’ TV channel on YouTube.
