VfL Wolfsburg winger Felix Klaus is set for a spell on the sidelines.
The 25-year-old, who joined the Wolves from Hannover 96 earlier this summer, will undergo surgery on his lower abdomen next week after suffering a stomach muscle injury at the beginning of pre-season. Klaus initially underwent conservative treatment following consultation with a specialist, although surgery remained an option. With the injury still causing Klaus discomfort and the winger only able to take part in light running exercises during training, the decision has been made to operate.
“We’ll facilitate a smooth return”
“It’s obviously disappointing for Felix because he missed almost the whole of pre-season,” said head coach Bruno Labbadia. “We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the pitch as soon as possible. We’ll figure out a plan to help facilitate a smooth return to the first team.”
“I had hoped for a different start to life at VfL Wolfsburg,” admitted Klaus. “I’ll do everything I can now to return to fitness and to be able to help the team again.”
