Wolves drawn against regional league side Preußen Münster in DFB Cup first round.
VfL Wolfsburg know who their first competitive opponents of the 2021/22 season will be. The Green-and-Whites will travel to SC Preußen Münster, who finished third in the Regionalliga West last season, in the first round of the DFB Cup, in what will also be new coach Mark van Bommel’s competitive debut as Wolves head coach. The draw was made on Sunday evening during ARD’s ‘Sportschau’.
The Wolves have met the founding member of the Bundesliga seven times competitively to date. The most recent of those came 11 years ago and was also in the first round of the cup, when Cicero and Grafite fired VfL to a 2-1 win at the Preußenstadion in August 2010. Ties will be played over the weekend of 6 to 9 August, with the exact schedule still to be confirmed.
