“Keep following our path”

VfL host promoted VfB Stuttgart on Sunday evening.

VfL Wolfsburg take on VfB Stuttgart in their final Bundesliga match of 2020 on Sunday 20 December (kick-off 18:00 CET). At Friday’s pre-match press conference, head coach Oliver Glasner revealed how he is preparing his charges for the contest and shared his thoughts on a number of other issues…

…the Wolves’ first league defeat of the season: “We can take numerous positives from the game in Munich. We showed that for large parts, we’re capable of going toe-to-toe with them, creating chances and scoring goals. That’s important for us going into our final Bundesliga game of the year against Stuttgart and against Sandhausen in the cup. We obviously want to keep following the path we’ve set for ourselves.”

…opponents Stuttgart: “Stuttgart have a superb team with a lot of pace in attack. They also have players with experience who strike a good balance. Their team has been cleverly assembled, they’re very versatile and strong in transition. That’s why we need to make sure we make as few mistakes as possible when in possession and mustn’t lose our shape when we attack.”

…VfL’s unbeaten home record: “That’s also a result of our performances. The team is playing really good football. We’re very compact, make it difficult for opponents to create chances and are also capable of creating opportunities ourselves. There’s no shortage of confidence and a lot of things seem to be working in harmony. As a result, we’ve been able to win our last few home games.”

…the personnel situation: “The players who featured against Bayern are all fit and available. Renato Steffen trained with the rest of the team without problems. We need to wait and see with John Anthony Brooks, but we still have a bit of time.”
