The reaction from Oliver Glasner to the Europa League qualifying elimination.
Despite taking the lead, the Green-and-Whites lost 2-1 in their play-off at AEK Athens and missed out on qualification for the UEFA Europa League group stage. The Wolves were in control for large parts of the game but didn’t show enough grit going forward.
With everything pointing towards extra time seconds before the final whistle, the recently introduced Karim Ansarifard clinched a last-minute winner for the Greek side with a well-placed shot.
Oliver Glasner: “We’re all very disappointed. It’s extremely painful to lose 2-1 with the last kick of the game. We were determined to win in normal time and then got hit on the counter. We really struggled to create chances and didn’t assert ourselves enough. Despite that, we went 1-0 up and then they equalised with a beauty of a goal. We tried but we couldn’t find the right answers in attack, so it’s a huge disappointment.”
