The two head coaches give their thoughts on the Wolves' 1-0 victory over 1. FC Union Berlin on Sunday.
VfL Wolfsburg may have had more chances over the course of the 90 minutes, but they still had to fight hard to see all three points over the line at the Volkswagen Arena. The result means the Green-Whites remain the only undefeated team in the Bundesliga this season and go into the international break in second place in the standings.
The coaches' reactions
VfL head coach Oliver Glasner: "Union made life very, very tough for us today. They mirrored our formation, drew us into challenges and managed to impose their game plan. It was really difficult for us, but I have to give huge credit to my team for competing the way they did just three days after a demanding match in St. Etienne. We knew we wouldn't get one chance after the other against Union, which makes it all the nicer that we scored following the best move of the game. We're happy to still be unbeaten and that we're even second in the table over the international break."
Union coach Urs Fischer: "Congratulations to VfL Wolfsburg, even if the win was a touch fortunate in the end. We played very well, were on an equal footing right from the off and invested a great deal in the game. At the end of the day, all that was missing was a finishing touch in front of goal; we should've done more with the chances we created. That makes it all the more disappointing that we have nothing to show for our efforts."
