The Frenchman will lead out the Wolves this season with Koen Casteels and Robin Knoche as his deputies.
The VfL Wolfsburg team will be led out onto the pitch by Josuha Guilavogui for the 2018/19 season, starting with this Saturday’s DFB Cup first-round tie at SV Elversberg (kick-off 15:30 CEST).
The 27-year-old has been chosen by his teammates, with goalkeeper Koen Casteels and defender Robin Knoche appointed vice-captains. “It’s a great honour for me,” said Guilavogui. “I’m pleased to have the trust of my teammates and I’m looking forward to carrying out this role.” The Frenchman joined VfL from Atlético Madrid in 2014 and has made 105 Bundesliga appearances for the Green-Whites, scoring six goals. He becomes the Wolves’ 22nd captain in their Bundesliga history.
Alongside Guilavogui, Casteels and Knoche, Ignacio Camacho and Paul Verhaegh were also selected to be part of the leadership team.
