Hilfiker puts training session for goalkeeper 'A' licence into practice.
Andreas Hilfiker, who is responsible for the coordination of goalkeepers and goalkeeper trainers in all of VfL’s competitive teams, is currently undertaking the seminar of the German Football Federation in order to acquire an 'A' licence as a goalkeeper trainer and made use of the morning session on Tuesday to complete a part of his course. One section consists of the preparation and implementation of a training session. The licence certifies a high-grade vocational education, and involves important issues for goalkeepers, such as opening up play, area-defending and communication with team mates.
The work was put into practice exclusively together with VfL goalkeeper trainer Pascal Formann. Additionally, fellow course participants Stefan Wächter (Hamburger SV), Christian Vander (Werder Bremen) and Mathias Hain (FC St. Pauli) from the north German along with Sven Beuckert (MSV Duisburg) and DFB goalkeeper coordinator Marc Ziegler were on the training grounds at the Volkswagen Arena and provided feedback for the 49-year-old Swiss goalkeeper trainer after the session. Hilfiker summarised: "Once again, it was extremely interesting to have such exchanges with colleagues. We have managed to gain some important new insights."
