Die Wölfinnen des VfL Wolfsburg jubeln und umarmen sich.

A long and, given the conditions, extraordinary 2020/21 campaign ended the way it began for VfL Wolfsburg Women – namely with a home win. Fresh from lifting the DFB Cup for an eighth time the She-Wolves romped to an 8-0 victory over Werder Bremen in their final fixture of the FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga season

The Green-and-Whites finished with the largest points tally ever recorded by a second-placed team (59), just two behind champions Bayern Munich. The end of the campaign also signalled farewells for some long-serving players as well as members of the coaching and backroom staff.

“I’m unbelievably proud”

Lerch: “It’s incredible that the team put in a performance like that again today. We were absolutely dominant and worked up a head of steam. Scoring eight goals without reply is a fantastic way to end the season. I can look back on a wonderful time here and I’m unbelievably proud to have been part of this team.”
