UEFA has suspended all continental club competitions until further notice.
The current coronavirus pandemic has not only seen domestic football grind to a halt, but has also resulted in the postponement of UEFA’s club competitions. That suspension will continue until further notice, according to European football’s governing body.
At Wednesday’s video conference involving general secretaries of all 55 UEFA member associations, numerous issues related to the current situation were discussed - including the remaining matches in this season’s Champions League and Europa League, where the Wolves have progressed to the last 16. The first leg against Shakhtar Donetsk on 12 March - VfL’s last game before the campaign was suspended - took place behind closed doors at the Volkswagen Arena and ended in a 2-1 defeat.
It also remains to be seen when the quarter-final ties in the UEFA Women’s Champions League will take place - if at all. VfL Women were due to face Scottish club Glasgow City FC in the last eight of the competition.
