“Full faith in every player”

Oliver Glasner believes his side are in good shape for the cup, despite several absentees.

Following the 1-0 home victory over VfB Stuttgart, the Wolves welcome second-division side SV Sandhausen to the Volkswagen Arena in the second round of the DFB Cup on Wednesday (kick-off 18:30 CET). At his pre-match press conference, head coach Oliver Glasner discussed…

… team news: “Unfortunately the situation has got worse. The players who missed the Stuttgart game are still absent. On top of that, Jay Brooks is out with a knee problem, while Josip Brekalo and Kevin Mbabu are major doubts. With those two we’ll make a decision on Wednesday about whether it makes sense for them to be on the bench.”

… the opposition: “Sandhausen are having a tough time in Bundesliga 2 and have already changed their coach. That said, physically they’re still a strong team and they’ll want to get us involved in lots of challenges. We can’t let ourselves get drawn into that – we need to let the ball do the work and impose our own game.”

… the game plan: “It’ll be important for us to move the ball about quickly and to make the opposition chase the game. We want to pool all our energy one more time. All of my players appear very focused and know that if we perform well, then we have a very good chance of winning and progressing to the next round of the cup. Every individual player will give everything they've got again in order to win, and I have full faith in every one of them.”
