Friendly win for VfL Ladies

The VfL Ladies beat Sparta Praha 5-0 in a friendly on Sunday afternoon.

The VfL Wolfsburg women’s team warmed up for next Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash against FC Bayern Munich in the Allianz Women’s Bundesliga (kick-off 15:00 CET) with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Sparta Praha in Halle. Alexandra Popp hit a brace, while Ewa Pajor, Pernille Harder and Kristine Minde also scored for Stephan Lerch’s side in their final friendly of the winter break in a match they dominated from start to finish against the Czech league leaders.

“We’re prepared”

VfL head coach Stephan Lerch: “It was another good test for us, especially from a physical point of view. Our biggest flaw in the first half was our chance conversion, we just lacked a bit of conviction in some situations. It wasn’t as easy in the second half, particularly as there were lots of substitutions and the wind was getting stronger. All in all it was an important friendly and I think we’re prepared for the top-of-the-table match in Munich next Sunday.”
