VfL Wolfsburg Women head into the latest international break with the wind in their sails following Sunday’s 1-0 win over direct rivals TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Ten She-Wolves players will be involved with their respective countries in the coming days, chief among them VfL goalkeeper Katarzyna Kiedrzynek, who is looking to help Poland seal a place at the European Championships in their final qualifier.
Germany, meanwhile, are set to take part in the “Three Nations. One Goal” mini-tournament. Almuth Schult has not been named in the squad itself, but the She-Wolves keeper will spend time with the Germany contingent following her long-term absence. “We’ve decided to take Almuth with us for a few days, after close consultation with the club and our goalkeeping coach, Michael Fuchs,” head coach Martina Voss Tecklenburg told DFB.de.
The Swedish national team are holding a training camp in Malta in preparation for the Olympic Games, but Ingrid Engen and Karina Saevik will not feature for Norway after they pulled out of a tournament in France due to the coronavirus pandemic. Denmark, who have recent VfL signing Sofie Svava in their ranks, have also opted against taking part.
