  • Wolfsburg and Augsburg have faced one another on 20 occasions. In the first ever meeting between the two sides – almost a decade ago – VfL’s record appearance holder Maximilian Arnold made his Bundesliga debut.

  • Augsburg are the only current Bundesliga club who have yet to face the Wolves in any other competition.

  • Four former VfL head coaches have also held the reins at Augsburg, namely Fritz Schollmeyer, Armin Veh, Holger Fach and Martin Schmidt. Alfons Higl, who was Veh’s assistant in 2009/10, also enjoyed a spell in charge at FCA.

  • The Wolves’ 8-1 victory over Augsburg on the final day of the 2018/19 season was the Green-and-Whites’ biggest ever win in the Bundesliga. It was also Augsburg’s heaviest defeat in the top flight.
