There was praise from both coaches after VfL’s entertaining 2-2 draw against Leipzig.
It was an “end-to-end” contest between the Wolves and Leipzig, with both sides leading before eventually sharing the points in a 2-2 draw.
The coaches’ post-match reaction
Oliver Glasner: “I think it was a great, attractive game today. We reacted fantastically after going behind early, played really well in the first half, and also scored wonderful goals. Leipzig upped the pressure in the second half and scored the equaliser after a free-kick, which was a bit unlucky for us. After that it was an end-to-end game, where Leipzig had one or two very dangerous situations but where we also could’ve won it with Jay Brooks’ header against the post and Wout’s big chance at the end. Therefore the draw is fair. It was another very good performance.”
Julian Nagelsmann: “I was very happy with the first 10 minutes and we deserved to take the lead. It seemed like the goal didn’t help us that much and after that the pressure from Wolfsburg was significantly greater. We spoke about a few things at half-time and then the boys played very, very well in the second half. We won a lot of balls, played some great stuff and had six or seven good chances, two of them absolutely gilt-edged. We should’ve scored a goal from them. Despite Brooks’ header against the post, we looked much likelier to win in the second half. Ultimately we have to settle for the point – and it’s not the end of the world as Wolfsburg are a good side.”
