Double double last season

All you need to know ahead of the Wolves’ trip to Arminia Bielefeld.

Recent victories over FC Augsburg, FC Salzburg and Bayer 04 Leverkusen have given Florian Kohfeldt’s VfL Wolfsburg side a major confidence boost ahead of their trip to Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday 20 November (kick-off 15:30 CET). The Wolves have a good record against Arminia, winning both games against the North Rhine-Westphalian club under Oliver Glasner last term. Kohfeldt also did the league double over Bielefeld last season, guiding SV Werder Bremen to home and away victories in the league.

Arminia are currently second bottom of the Bundesliga but gained valuable points in their battle against relegation with victory at VfB Stuttgart last time out – their first league win of the current campaign. Read on for more facts and figures on Saturday’s game…

  • Ever-improving record: The Wolves were able to add further gloss to their overall record against Bielefeld with two league victories (2-1 at home and 3-0 away) last season, stretching their winning run over Arminia to six matches in all competitions.

  • No way through: VfL have not conceded a goal at Bielefeld in nearly 10 hours of football – or 595 minutes to be precise.

  • Fond memories for Kohfeldt: VfL’s new head coach guided Bremen to home and away victories over Bielefeld last term. Werder triumphed 1-0 at the Weserstadion before winning 2-0 at the Schüco-Arena.

  • Lukas on a roll: Lukas Nmecha made his first two appearances for the German senior national team last week after being named in Hansi Flick’s squad for the first time. The frontman has scored in all three competitive games under Kohfeldt, lifting his Bundesliga tally this season to four and his overall haul to six – more than any other Wolfsburg player.
