Defender Sara Doorsoun is joining league rivals Eintracht Frankfurt.
VfL Wolfsburg Women will go into the second half of the season without Sara Doorsoun. The 30-year-old defender’s contract, which was valid until 2023, was terminated on 31 December 2021 and she has signed for league rivals Eintracht Frankfurt until 30 June 2023. The transfer fee has not been disclosed.
Doorsoun moved to Wolfsburg from SGS Essen in summer 2018 and has made 45 FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga appearances, 20 UEFA Women’s Champions League outings and seven DFB Cup appearances in the green and white shirt. She won the Bundesliga title twice and the DFB Cup three times.
“Good solution for all parties”
“Sara came to us with the request to terminate her contract as, from her point of view, she’s not had enough playing time in the last few months,” explained Ralf Kellermann, VfL Women sporting director. “In the end we granted her request because we were able to find a good solution for all parties with Eintracht Frankfurt. As well as that, I’m confident we’ll be able to make up for her departure given the top quality and quantity we have in the squad. We thank Sara for three and a half years of full commitment in the VfL shirt, and wish her all the best in her sporting and personal life.”
