VfL Wolfsburg-Spielerin Tabea Waßmuth läuft mit dem Ball.

Tabea Waßmuth, who joined the She-Wolves from TSG Hoffenheim in the summer, talks about the reasons behind her move, her goals and her first few weeks in Wolfsburg.

Tabea, you’ve been with the She-Wolves for three weeks. What do you make of your start to life in Wolfsburg?

Tabea Waßmuth: “It was made very pleasant for me. I knew some of my team-mates from the national team. I’m being given the best support, so it feels like I’ve been here much longer.”

You were at Hoffenheim for 12 years. What was the key reason behind your move to Wolfsburg?

Tabea: “It was always clear that if I were to move to another Bundesliga club, it would be Wolfsburg. VfL are one of the biggest clubs in Europe, so when they come knocking you don’t think twice.”

What differences have you been able to identify so far in pre-season?

Tabea: “All the basics are a bit more professional here, starting with the training times. It all makes a huge difference and I can feel it already. As a footballer you always want to play, so having so many games suits us nicely.”

As well as a new environment and new team-mates, a change of club often brings with it a new style of play. Where do you see yourself fitting into VfL’s system?

Tabea: “In general, I’m most comfortable on the wings. I prefer playing on the right flank.

What are your goals at VfL and what are your personal hopes for the new campaign?

Tabea: “I haven’t won that many titles in my career yet – every trophy would be a new one for me. I hope to win as many as possible though. Personally, I want to be given a lot of playing time, perform well and continue to improve.”
