Lara Dickenmann has extended her contract with VfL Wolfsburg until 2021.
The VfL Wolfsburg Ladies will be able to call on the services of Lara Dickenmann for the foreseeable future after the 32-year-old defensive specialist signed a two-year contract extension. Her original deal was due to expire in summer 2019, but she has now committed to the club until 30 June 2021. “We’re very pleased,” said VfL Ladies’ sporting director Ralf Kellermann. “Lara is one of our most experienced players internationally. She has a great affinity with VfL Wolfsburg and is one of the most recognisable faces at the club. It’s great that we can continue to rely on her.”
Two league titles, three DFB Cups
Dickenmann joined the She-Wolves in 2015, having previously spent six years at French giants Olympique Lyon. Switzerland’s record appearance holder (135 caps, 53 goals) has made 96 competitive outings for the Green-Whites across three competitions, scoring 20 times. She was part of the VfL side that lifted the DFB Cup in 2016, before helping the club win consecutive league and cup doubles in 2017 and 2018.
“Despite the fact that we’ve won so many titles already, the team remains hungry for more,” said Dickenmann. “That attitude impressed me from the moment I arrived in Wolfsburg. The club’s values match my own. I’m also particularly impressed with VfL’s commitment to social causes. That’s one of the reasons I’m so happy here. I’m playing for one of the best teams in Europe and will give my all to help us continue to be successful.”
