“Continue our good form”

The Wolves are eager to build on Tuesday’s victory over Bayer Leverkusen when they face Eintracht Frankfurt this weekend.

Oliver Glasner gibt Anweisungen im Spiel gegen Leverkusen..

After Oliver Glasner’s side overwhelmed Leverkusen in midweek, they are now eager to pick up where they left off when Frankfurt visit the Volkswagen Arena on Saturday 30 May (kick-off 15:30 CEST), in order to consolidate their place in the top half of the table. Via a telephone press conference ahead of the match, the VfL head coach gave his thoughts on…

… his team’s fitness: “The boys who have played a lot recently are really in very good shape and made a good impression again today. The attacking positions in our system are the ones that are most intense in terms of running, and the guys up top cover more ground than anyone. For that reason we always try to rotate when we have the feeling that one or two players are tired.”

… the opposition: “Obviously, Frankfurt only drew 3-3 with Freiburg, but they could and perhaps should have won it comfortably. They know the situation they’re in and don’t want to slip down any further, so I’m expecting them to be very aggressive and very attack-minded. We’ll need to give it absolutely everything we’ve got.”

… the squad for the game: “Admir Mehmedi and Yannick Gerhardt will be in the squad. Josuha Guilavogui has trained without any problems, but he’s not involved yet because he was out for 14 weeks and it’s too big of a risk for me to include him after just a couple of sessions.”

… the team’s development: “We’ve developed in a very positive way. Our overall defensive play has improved, and our movements have become second nature to the point that they're becoming increasingly effective. It’s hard to create chances against us. We’re still developing and, despite the long break we had, we’re happy with the way the players have performed recently and the way they’re increasingly taking on board how we want to play, regardless of the formation. Now we want to continue our good form.”
