Oliver Glasner was a happy man after his side’s goal-fest against Bremen.
The VfL head coach was full of praise for his charges following their 5-3 triumph at home to Werder Bremen in what he described as an “exciting game” in his post-match analysis.
Oliver Glasner: “It’s a real shame the stadium couldn’t be full as it would’ve been rocking during a game like that. But otherwise, I’m very pleased that we won. It was a wild match. We made one mistake and suddenly went 1-0 down, but we came back superbly. Then they equalised when we made a second mistake, but again we showed a great reaction. We came out for the second half and all of a sudden they level the score at 3-3. That was tough for the team because they’d invested so much to fight their way back into it. But they kept believing in themselves and were determined to win. That’s what led to our fourth goal following some terrific build-up play, before we crowned a really good display with a fifth. Congratulations to my players for performing so well again today.”
Florian Kohfeldt: “I think there are two different perspectives on the match. That was a really enjoyable game for the fans, an incredibly intense encounter that ebbed and flowed between two passionate teams. The second point of view comes from a more technical, analytical standpoint. After we went 1-0 up, we had every advantage on our side, but then the match turned against us. We’ve been extremely good in the tackle in recent weeks, but we weren’t quite as good in that regard today, and on top of that we conceded some silly goals. It was one of our best performances in terms of our attacking play, though. That said, we’re very frustrated about losing here because it’s definitely not one we should have lost.”
