Oliver Glasner gibt Anweisungen im Heimspiel gegen Bremen.

Having climbed to fifth in the Bundesliga table with a pulsating 5-3 home win over Werder Bremen on Matchday 9, VfL can now set a new club record with another victory at 1. FC Köln on Saturday 5 December (kick-off 15:30 CET). If the Green-and-Whites avoid defeat in the Cathedral City, they will have started a Bundesliga season with a ten-match unbeaten run for the first time in their history. Before the game, head coach Oliver Glasner shared his thoughts on…

…opponents Köln: “Köln are clearly on an upward trajectory. The game in Dortmund wasn’t a lucky win, but a deserved one. We need to find solutions against a compact defence and play with flexibility, just as we’ve been doing of late. It’d be nice to play with the same efficiency as we did at home to Bremen. The players have made a very good impression this week and there was a real spark in training. We’re travelling to Cologne with confidence.”

…his most prolific striker: “Wout Weghorst has also scored a lot in the last two seasons. He’s getting good service in the penalty area at the moment, and that’s when he shows his true qualities: finishing ability, movement in the box and a hunger to score goals. In general though, it’s about being successful as a team.”

…the personnel situation: “We still need to make do without Josuha Guilavogui, who has only been able to train by himself this week. Admir Mehmedi is also out – he’s been having big problems with his Achilles tendon since the Bremen game, so he needs a break and won’t be available for the rest of the year. On the other hand, Daniel Ginczek is fit again. He’s done well in training this week and is back in contention.”
