Comeback win

VfL Women recovered from an early deficit to beat PSV Eindhoven 2-1.

Following the 2-0 victory over Rosenborg, VfL Wolfsburg Women made it two wins from two friendlies with a 2-1 success over PSV Eindhoven. After Maruschka Waldus put the visitors in front early on, Pia-Sophie Wolter and Ewa Pajor turned the game around for the She-Wolves against the former club of new signing Joelle Smits, who is not joining up with the team until next week.

The eight-time DFB Cup winners take on Dutch top-flight opposition again this Saturday, 7 August (kick-off 16:00 CEST), in Barsinghausen. This time they face FC Twente, who She-Wolves coach Tommy Stroot led to the ‘Eredivisie Vrouwen’ title before moving to Wolfsburg in the summer.

“Important lessons”

VfL head coach Tommy Stroot: “There were some important lessons for us today, especially in the first half – but that’s exactly what we want. That’s also why we looked for friendly opponents who would pose different challenges for us. That helps us to analyse things. Those little things then ensured that we got a grip of the game in the second half. It’s important for us to experience situations and then to improve. That’s how we develop!”
